Steel Bonded Plywood has been a standard external wall component for modular buildings for many years
Panels are fitted with a steel balancing sheet to prevent distortion and extend the product lifespan. Using our peerless two-part polyurethane adhesive system, we can ensure that any separation of the steel from the plywood is the result of substrate destruction and not adhesive failure. Our adhesive is cross-linked and will not soften or relax even under extreme conditions – bond strength is guaranteed from -30 deg C to +150 deg C.
Where an external panel with increased performance levels is required, please refer to our Bonded Panels page for more specialised alternatives.
Please Note: Even the highest quality exterior plywood will deflect when it absorbs moisture or when the bonded steel surface expands as it is heated by direct sunlight, therefore Excel specify that all bonded panels are fitted with a ‘balancing’ steel to the reverse and all exposed edges are sealed to preserve panel stability and extend building lifespan. Adequate mechanical perimeter fixings and mid-panel fixing systems should also be applied to suit the construction method and frame detail.
